The only question you need to ask: “When are we moving to the cloud?”

Cloud Computing, from a global point of view, is already here. In fact, it’s everywhere. I posted this article originally on my old blog in 2016. As you can see, moving to the cloud is mandatory in 2019.

Successful companies who put their trust in Cloud Computing gain a competitive edge over companies who cling to traditional technologies. Those afraid of change no longer need to question the legality of moving services to the cloud or worry about privacy concerns. The only question you need to ask:

“When are we moving our services to the cloud?”

Usually, European companies start using technologies long after they’re already “state of the art” in the US. Finally, Cloud Computing obtained it’s well deserved attention in Europe, especially in the D-A-CH region, as well. Companies are constantly moving services to Cloud Providers like Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure.

Do not just “migrate”

It’s safe to say that it was about time companies start building their IT – or even parts of it – on Cloud Platforms. There are many Case-Studies underpinning the assertion that there are hardly any cases where Cloud Computing can’t be used in a useful way. And yes – you still might be sceptical now, but you will soon realize that IT is experiencing a huge change right now. Of course every project is individual in it’s challenges and circumstances. That’s why you need to identify every business-case wether it makes sense or not to move to the cloud.

Here is my conclusion. As you can imagine, cloud technologies are already in use by many companies which need unlimited resources and flexibility. Also technolgies like IoT, Big Data, AI, Machine Learning can not exist without the benefits of Cloud Computing.
