BYD OTA Watch #03 – Version 3.1.0 Marks a Major Step Forward

After months of version confusion, duplicated version numbers, and missing changelogs, BYD has rolled out OTA version 3.1.0 (initially 3.0.1) in Austria (and other parts of Europe) and this time, it feels different.

Not just because of the features; But because something fundamental has changed: For the first time, BYD Austria has introduced an official Software Updates section on their website:

That alone is a major step toward transparency. And what about version 3.1.0? It’s the most substantial update we’ve seen so far.

Finally: An Official Software Update Portal

With the launch of the new Software Updates page, BYD Austria now:

  • Publishes structured update notes
  • Lists features and improvements clearly
  • Creates a central place for OTA transparency

After the 1.x and 2.x version chaos, this is exactly what many owners were asking for.

IT looks like, software is no longer an afterthought and it’s becoming part of the product strategy.

See the details of the page here:

What’s Next?

Now that BYD Austria has introduced an official software update section, expectations rise.

What would further strengthen the ecosystem?

If 3.1.0 marks the beginning of a more structured OTA strategy, then the Sealion 7’s and the other model’s software journey is just getting started.

I’ll continue tracking every major release in the OTA Watch series. Stay tuned.
